Sword Art Online

Overview: Sword Art Online is a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by abec. The series takes place in the near-future and focuses on  various virtual reality MMORPG worlds. 


Plot: Sword Art Online or SAO as referenced by the characters is a virtual reality massive multiplayer online role playing game, released in 2022. With the Nerve Gear, a virtual reality helmet that stimulates the users five sense via their brain, players can experience and control their in-game characters with their minds. On November 6, 2022, the players log into SAO for the first time, and later discover that they are unable to log out. They are then informed by Akihiko Kayaba, SAO's creator, that if they wish to be free they must reach the 100th floor of the games tower and defeat the final boss. However if their avatars die in-game, their bodies will also die in the real world. One of these players is Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya, who was chosen as one of the 1,000 beta testers in the closed beta. Since he had previous experience and knowledge of the game, he felt that he could beat the game easily. As a result he set out to beat the game on his own. As the game for two years, Kirito eventually befriends a female player named Asuna with whom he ultimately falls in love. After the duo discover the identity of Kayaba's avatar in SAO, they confront him and destroy him, freeing themselves and the other players from the game.

Soul Eater 

Overview: Soul Eater is a manga series written and illustrated by Atsushi Okubo. Set at the "Death Weapon Meister Academy", the series revolves around three teams, each consisting of a weapon meister and weapon that can transform into a humanoid. Trying to make the latter a "death scythe" and thus fit for use by the academy's headmaster Shinigami the personification of death, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and one witch, in that order; otherwise they will have to start over again.


Plot: Soul Eater is set at Death Weapon Meister Academy"DWMA" for short located in the fictional Death City in Nevada, United States. The school is run by the Shinigami also know as Death, as a training facility for humans with the ability to transform into weapons, as well as the wielder of those  weapons called meisters. Attending the school are meister Maka Albarn and her scythe partner Soul Eater, assassin Black Star and his partner Tsubaki Nakatsukasa, who can turn into weapons such as a kusarigama, shuriken, and ninjato; and Shinigami's son Death the Kid and his pistol partners Liz and Patty Thompson. The goal of the schools meister students is to have there  weapons absorb the souls of 99 evil humans and one witch, which will dramatically increase the power of the weapon and turn them into "death scythes", weapons capable of being used by Shinigami.

One Piece

One Piece

Overview: One piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since July 19, 1997, with the chapter collected into seventy-seven tankobon volumes to date. One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man whose body gains the properties of rubber after unintentionally eating a Devil Fruit. With his diverse crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy explores the ocean in search of the world's  ultimate treasure known as "One Piece" in order to become the next Pirate King.


Plot: The series begins with the execution of Gol D. Roger, a man known as the King of the Pirates. Just before his death, Roger announces that his treasure, the One Piece will be available to anyone who finds it, starting the Great Pirate Era. As a result, countless pirates set out to the Grand Line to look for the treasure. Twenty-two years have passed since Roger's execution, and Monkey D. Luffy a young man inspired by his childhood idol and powerful pirate red Haired Shanks, sets off on a journey from the East Blue Sea to find the One Piece and become King of the Pirates. After the crew is mad Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates set sail to have a great adventure.

Summary: Bleach is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. Bleach follows the adventures of the hotheaded teenager Ichigo Kurosaki after he obtains the powera of a Soul Reaper(a death personification similar to the Grim Reaper) from another Soul Reaper, Rukia Kuchiki. His new found powers force him to take on the duties of defending humans from evil spirits and guiding departed souls to the afterlife, and set him on journeys to various ghostly realms of existence.

Plot: Ichigo Kurosaki is a teenager who can see ghost, a talent which lets him meet supernatural trespasser Rukia Kuchiki, Rukia is one of the Soul Reapers, psychopomp soldiers trusted with ushering the souls of the dead from the world of the living to the Soul Society and with fighting Hollows, monstrous lost souls who can harm both ghosts and humans. When she is severely wounded defending Ichigo from a Hollow she is pursuing, Rukia transfers her Spirit Pressure to Ichigo so that he may fight in her stead while she recovers her strength. Rukia is thereby trapped in an ordinary human body.

Overview: Naruto is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. It tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, an adolescent ninja who constantly searches for recognition and dreams of becoming the Hokage, the ninja in his village who is acknowledged as the leader and the strongest of all. The series is based on a one-shot manga by Kishimoto that was puplished in the August 1997 issue of Akamaru Jump. Naruto was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from the 43rd issue of 1999 to the 50th issue of 2014, with the chapters collected into seventy-two tankobon volumes by Shueisha. The manga was later adapted into a television anime, which was produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex. It premiered across Japan in the terrestrial TV Tokyo and other TX Networks stations on October 3 2002. The first series lasted 220 episodes, while Naruto: Shippuden,  sequel to the original series has been airing since February 10, 2007. In addition to the anime series, Studio Pierrot has developed ten movies and several original video animation.
